Near the Italian and Swiss borders, in the south-east of France, you will find a chic little ski village called Megève. Expensive and attractive, flooding an old-fashioned charm, Megève is just 35 km away from the famous French city of Chamonix Mont Blanc - the king of winter sports, featuring the sensational landscapes of Mont Blanc. The journey by car from Geneva airport takes a little over an hour.
In Megeve we find plenty of options to dine, but now we've chosen 2 of our favorite cafes. The first, extremely welcoming, let us say a family business, and the second, famous for decades, present in many corners of the world.
No. 1 Le Comptoir du Pere Sotieu
( 19 rue du Gal Muffat de Saint Amour, 74120 Megeve, France)
If you ever get to Megeve, open the wooden door to this beautiful salon de thé. On the ground floor you have all sorts of sweet and salty goodies and on the first floor you have a few tables where you can have a coffee or one of those appetizing cakes. The decor is so cozy! You should give it a try!
No. 2 Ladurée Megève
( 88 rue Charles Feige, 74120 Megeve, France )
The experience with Ladurée in Megeve is excellent as long as you choose the absolutely delicious hot chocolate, the aromatic coffee or the famous macarons. The décor is opulent, you can serve a tea both inside and outside where there are some blankets to keep you warm during the winter. Do not expect to find an impressive selection of cakes such as those in Paris or Geneva. However, it is a stylish, elegant place where you can sip a good coffee and have a nice chat.
