Italy it’s such a beautiful country, as well as it’s her Dome of Milan, but it seems like the most beautiful and romantic side are those exciting day trips that can be done starting from the fashion capital – Milan, from where you can reach the famous lakes Lago di Como, Lago Maggiore and Lago di Garda.

Today, we made a trip to Lake Como, from Milano Nord Bovisa station, we took tickets to Como Lago Nord, and in less than 1 hour, here we are in Como, a serene, romantic and picturesque city. Fortunately or not, we came in a day of winter, when the colors of the mountains, the lake and the houses seemed a little wiped, given the omnipresent fog. Therefore, I recommend visiting Lake Como in spring, when everything is blooming and you will get artistic pictures.

To get to Lake Como, you’ll pass through the chic Como town, which enjoys an interesting architecture and plenty of little shops and cafes. The cozy atmosphere you’ll find on those gorgeous and clean cobbled streets transcends you into the nineteenth century.

Go to Caffè Milani for a great pizza and a strong cup of coffee! Como Cathedral is impressive, it was built on a former Romanesque church and its exterior facade and rococo style dome attracts many tourists. Next to it, it’s Broletto, an arched building, actually very beautiful, where you can make a short stop sitting on its steps. Further, are two extraordinary Lombard churches with an overwhelming Romanesque architecture San Fedele and Sant'Abbondio on Via Regina Feodolinda.

The city has a lake-front promenade and from any point you can take a boat ride to discover the neighboring villages of Lake Como or to feed the pigeons. A boat trip on Lake Como, which has the shape of Y is so welcome, because you’ll have plenty of time to admire the colorful gardens of the sumptuous houses, the entire beauty seen from boat is peerless. During spring and summer should be really nice, because along the lake there are many Mediterranean-style plants, chestnut trees and flowers, so the whole picture gets vibrant colors. You'll be catch at the horizon, snowy peaks, absolutely fabulous. For a panoramic view of the beautiful Lake Como, take a ride with the funicular from Como to Brunate. From there, what you'll see is speechless.

Towers, edifices, museums, churches in different styles of architecture, cozy cafes &restaurants, pretty shops that sells fine silk (the emblem of Como), a vibrant rhythm but also peaceful , the gateway to the fascinating Lake Como, all this turns Como in one of the most beautiful and romantic destinations in Italy.
