Mauritius is a detached corner of paradise. Many have written about him and they all describe it as something magnificent. You do not need to make a list of what to visit and what not, here it is all bundled, full package. Sublime. The beaches are torn from a film, the accommodation is excellent and most hotels offer unforgettable views over the turquoise sea, palm trees and a sunrise / sunset of the emblematic area. Dodo bird (flightless - now disappeared, is the central figure in local folklore), is the symbol of the island; you find everywhere, as souvenir painted on their homes or in museums.

In Mauritius you will also meet the famous mountain, called ‘’ the slipping beauty’’, who looks like a woman who sleeps…the view is breathtaking. The island has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, sublime mountain scenery and a harmonious blend of cultures. Due to the variety of cultures arose numerous Hindu temples, mosques, churches and Buddhist. The capital and largest city of the island is Port Louis, located in the north-west of the state. Multicultural city is divided into five major areas: Hindu, Islamic, Christian, Chinese and Creole. In the center there is a fairly large number of colonial buildings, preserved because of their historical value. The most impressive religious buildings in the city are: Jummah Mosque, dating from the nineteenth century, the largest on the island and built in a mixture of styles of Indian, Islamic and Creole, Cathedral St. James Cathedral St. Louis Marie Reine de la Paix Monument, highly sought by pilgrims and where you can admire the city panorama, Bazaar, Chinatown, the old theater and Place dArmes. Other important cities are Curepipe, Vacoas, Phoenix, Quatre Bornes, Rose-Hill and Beau-Bassin Quartier Militaire.

Mauritius is a complex location that offers you mountain and ocean, the island being very small, the vegetation and landscapes differs very much so the south-west of the island is the one spectacular due to the proximity of the mountains. There you can rent a car to explore the whole island. You can try safari experience where you go with the lions and tigers (It takes between 45 minutes and one hour, costs 85 Euros per person) and offer an unforgettable experience. Not to be missed nor Crocodile & Giant tortoises Park and Nature Reserve.

About Mauritius is good to know that tourism is highly developed and in the 1800s were printed by mistake, some of the most expensive stamps in the world. Mauritius is famous for brown sugar, best known on all continents.

Mauritius is part of the Mascarene Islands. This archipelago has formed a series of underwater volcanoes, active volcanoes currently not being anymore in the region. Sega is their local folk music, has African roots and the music is produced using percussion instruments, made by goatskin called Ravana. The cuisine of Mauritius is a blend of Indian cuisine, Chinese and European. A very popular dish is chicken curry, and Aloud is a typical tropical drink. Mauritius is a perfect destination for lovers of surfing, water skiing, sailing, golf, diving and fishing, for lovers of beauty, sublime and romance. Many luxury hotels offer the opportunity to practice a range of sports for free. It is an expensive destination, I would say very expensive, but if you can afford it, fully deserves to be visited. I leave you with some gorgeous pictures to enchant your soul.
